How we began
Ferndale Electric began decades ago in 1959 with Detroit Edison being our first major customer. In fact, Detroit Edison (now DTE) remains one of our major utility customers today.
Throughout the ‘60’s, ‘70’s and ‘80’s, the company grew exponentially as we pursued niche markets where there were opportunities for expansion and limited competition. This meant taking advantage of Detroit being the Motor City and identifying opportunities in the automotive sector. The company also added infrastructure and institutional customers during this time.
As the ‘90’s and early 2000’s rolled in, our leadership team’s strategic vision guided further expansion into other markets, including health care, electronic security and homeland security.
In 2017, the ownership of Ferndale Electric was assumed by a team made up of long-term company leaders. The executive management team of John Hillock, P.E. (President), Paul Ferguson (Vice President Estimating) and John Toloff, C.P.A. (Vice President Finance) continue to look to the future while building on the legacy of success created in the past.
We are focused on the future, but haven’t forgotten what got us here.
